Elderly-oriented strategy about residential planning and residential building design based on the view of house-based care for the aged
By analyzing the particularity of Chinese aging society, unlike traditional family-based care for the aged, this paper puts forward a new concept of house-based care for the aged which is a new supporting system for seniors living mode supported by community service and facilities and residential building.Combined with the house-based care for the aged view, this paper mainly describes the elderly-oriented design strategies of community planning and residential building designing.As to the community planning, this paper proposes that current community planning facilities is quantitatively and qualitatively inconsistent with the progress of Chinese aging society.Planning should be combined with the existing planning structure to consider the residential quarters higher rank planning structure such as residential areas and lower rank planning structure such as residential units, to guide community facilities for a further rationalized and quantitative aged configuration and form a facility system with different residential level.As to the residential building design, this paper proposes that current residential building is not suitable for the elderly.Elderly-oriented design should take into account the possibility of the residential building itself and the internal facilities innovation for the aged after the aging of occupants, which means it should include five principles: functionality, security, health, privacy and flexibility.
