Texture of History and Its Activation-the Shaping of the Cultural Landscape of Hangzhou White Pagoda Park
Located at the intersection of the Grand Cannel and the Qiangtang River, Hangzhou White Pagoda area is the place of multiple cultural heritages, including the White Pagoda (A.D.960), the Railway (A.D.1907), the Qianjiang bridge (A.D.1937)and the Warehouse(A.D.1950).During the reconstruction as a culture park, a correct identification, understanding, presentation and revitalization of the unique local culture is the key to the design of the cultural landscape of the White Pagoda park. The design first delves into history and pins down the cultural value of the area as a landmark of a former transportation hub, then brings out the historical and cultural texture of its service at different times restrained by technological conditions, and finally activates the related culture through a creative design emphasizing heritage protection and heritage temperament.
