Extraction of alumina from sintered clinker of desilicated fly ash by the lime sinter process

  Extraction of alumina from desilicated fly ash can not only effectively reduces the environmental pollution, but also can alleviate the shortage of bauxite resources in China.In this paper desilicated fly ash was firstly mixed with CaCO3.for sintering by the lime sinter process, and then the sintered clinkers that mainly contain 12CaO·7A12O3 and γ-2CaO·SiO2 were leached in sodium carbonate solution.The effects of sodium carbonate concentration, leaching temperature and time on the leaching property of sintered clinkers were investigated.The results show that all the above factors can affect the alumina leaching rate of sintered clinker, among which the leaching temperature and time have greater influence than sodium carbonate concentration.The alumina leaching rate of sintered clinker is above 89% when the ratio of leaching liquid to solid is 3, sodium carbonate concentration is 166.86g/L leached at 90℃ for 40 min.Side reaction leads to the formation of hydrogarnet and sodium hydrate aluminosilicate, which reduces the alumina leaching rate of sintered clinker.
