Advances in Pan Filter Design for Improved Product Filtration
Pan filters are operated in alumina refineries for filtration and washing of Al-Hydrate product since this vacuum rotary filter type is particularly suitable for filtration of coarse particles. The main target of this separation duty is to achieve a filter cake that is dry and free of soda as far as possible. In recent years BOKELA has steadily modernized the design of pan filters and introduced innovative features such as the forced feeding system, fast flow cells, an effective heel re-slurry system and BOKELA FrameTrak-a completely new filter cloth fixation system. These innovations significantly improved capacity, operation and maintenance of pan filters.BOKELA FrameTrak replaces traditional methods of cloth fixation and offers filter operators an advanced filter cloth fixation system allowing a fast and safe re-clothing of pan filters as well as drum filters. In recent years FrameTrak has been installed on several pan filters and drum filters in the alumina industry but also in other industries and has shown its reliability and its advantages over old methods of cloth fixation such as elimination of hand and wrist injuries (OHS aspects).Time for re-clothing with BOKELA FrameTrak is only a 1/3 of time required compared to old methods of cloth fixation.
