DRYING SHRINKAGE EFFECT ON CRACKING AND STRUCTURAL STRENGTH OF REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES
This communication deals with the effect of drying shrinkage on the mechanical behavior of reinforced concrete structures.Numerical simulations on a reinforced concrete tie tested in tension are carried out with or without taking into account drying.Particular attention is devoted to the modeling of the steel-concrete bond in order to guarantee an accurate degradation of the interface.A visco-elastic model with damage for concrete provides the state of stress and damage before loading due to drying shrinkage. The mechanical behavior of the specimen in tension, with or without drying, is then compared in terms of overall behavior and cracking pattern.
