Effects of ageing temperature on reverse martensite to austenite transformation in a low carbon martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel
Effects of ageing temperature on reverse transformation of martensite to austenite were studied by using thermal dilatometry, XRD and SEM.The volume fraction of reversed austenite is in-situ measured by using high temperature XRD and dilatometry during aging process. The maximum volume fraction of reversed austenite during aging process increases and it takes rather shorter time to reach the maximum value when ageing temperature increases. The effect of ageing temperature on transformation mechanisms and kinetics of reverse martensite to austenite transformation is discussed. The amount of retained austenite at room temperature is affected by the volume fraction of reversed austenite obtained during ageing and the thermal stability of reversed austenite, the maximum amount of retained austenite is obtained after ageing at 630 ℃.
