Influence of Different Greases on the Wear Performance of Solid Expandable Pipe Materials
Solid Expandable Technology(SET) is an effective method for saving on the costs of well drilling and completion and is becoming one of the main development direction of drilling technique.Friction in the pipe expansion process is a very important issue, it is related to the difficulty of the expansion process and the mechanical properties of the expanded tubing, thereby choosing a suitable lubricant, reducing friction coefficient are very important to SET.This paper investigated on the friction performance of a typical N80 solid expandable pipe material in the process of expanding containing lead-based grease, molybdenum disulfide lithium grease and none by using M-200 abrasion testing machine. The wear resistances of pipe body with different loads and time was studied, the wear surface morphology was analyzed by S-4800 Scanning Electron Microscopy, and the wear mechanism of two different greases was discussed at last.Based on the systematic analysis it can be concluded that two greases reduced the friction coefficient of solid expandable pipe materials during the wear process, the wear mechanisms also changed from the abrasive wear into adhesive wear, lead-based grease have the best lubricating effect because of lower friction coefficient and greatly improve the wear performance of solid expandable pipe material.
