Retriving Product Design Knowledge Using Knowledge Base

  Managing and retrieving knowledge effectively is critical to the competitive power of a company.Knowledge produced during product design is experiential and context specific, which makes the retrieval of such knowledge difficult.This paper focuses on acquiring complex product design knowledge fast and accurately, and support variety of the designers knowledge needs.Therefore a knowledge retrieval method based on knowledge base was proposed.In this paper, a four layer knowledge structure referring to product design ontology-indexing catalog-ontology triple-product design external resources was put forward to construct knowledge base.On this basis, we propose a similarity algorithm based on cosine and concept-property so as to retrieve knowledge from knowledge base.Moreover, research team developed a system prototype and validated the effectiveness of the prototype in terms of precision and recall.By applying the prototype in barrel design knowledge base, test results show that precision rate is 83.2%, the recall rate is 82.5 %.Results show that our method can effectively improve the accuracy of knowledge retrieval and can provide a new thought for knowledge base construction.
