Research of Citation Distribution Based on Literature Database: A Case Study of Several Different Research Fields

　　This paper discusses the citation characteristics of different disciplines and laws of the similarities and differences.Our study was based on CNKI literature database and drew support from bibliometrics and mathematical statistics.The four research areas we worked are knowledge management, electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic waves, programming theory and mechanical manufacturing processes.We also applied power-law theory and the long tail theory to verify the different dimensions of literature citations: years, journals, institutions and citation frequency distributions of the state of the fractal characteristics of the typical negative power-law distribution.
