Analysis of Fluid-Structure Interaction by High Velocity Impact

  In this paper,the analysis of fluid-structure of interaction of a fluid-filled container impacted by a high speed projectile was studied by numerical simulation adopting ALE method.A box-type container and a cylindrical container both filled with water were considered.First,the analysis procedure was verified for the box-type container configuration by comparing the time histories of projectile velocity history and fluid pressure with the experimental results given in the references.Next,the fluid-structure interaction behavior of the cylindrical container was examined in detail focusing on the time histories of the projectile velocity,distribution of fluid pressure,and energies,as well as the strain of the container.
