Improved Flight Load Analysis for Light Aircraft by Using Multi-Fidelity Database
For the first step,database to do the low-fidelity flight load analysis for light aircraft is developed.Required data for low-fidelity flight load analysis including geometry,weight and aerodynamic analysis results can be obtained by empirical method and estimation.For the weight data,Raymer and Roskams estimation method was used.For the aerodynamic data,AVL code was used for low angle of attack or low speed region and DATCOM was used for various angle of attack and speed region.The load analysis results,flight loads for main wing and empennage were predicted.Comparison with the results of CFD analysis was performed to validate the analysis results.Relatively low-fidelity flight load analysis results were obtained due to using analysis data based on empirical method and estimation.For the second step,multi-fidelity flight load analysis for light aircraft is carried out.At the multi-fidelity analysis stage,compared to the low-fidelity analysis stage,real weight and configuration data was used which reflects the basic and detail design.Using some of the actual data can increase the accuracy.For aerodynamic data,CFD analysis data was used.Although CFD analysis data has less precision than the wind tunnel test data or RC test data,however,has more reliability compared to low-fidelity data.Therefore,more reasonable results can be obtained.Also comparison with the results of CFD analysis was performed to validate the analysis results.For the next step,to do the high-fidelity flight load analysis,actual data such as real weight data and revised configuration data which reflect detail design result will be used.Wind tunnel test data and RC test data will be used for analysis as well.Accordingly,more precise analysis can be performed and more accurate results can be obtained.
