THE COMPETITION OF TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS IN CHINESE STRATEGIC EMERGING INDUSTRIES: PATENT DATA BASED INVESTIGATION ON CHINAS MARKET

　　This paper deals with major questions in competitiveness and challenges in Chinese strategic emerging industries.Data set by SIPO (Sino Intellectual Property Office) is used and data are collected according to technology field classification by WIPO.In total, 179,570 patent records over telecommunications & Information technology, biotechnology, materials, environment technology and mechanical engineering are investigated.Technology strength is compared between local Chinese and overseas owners in those typical technology fields using RTA index.Duration analysis is used to discover the determinants of high qualified patents in Chinese strategic emerging industries.It can be concluded that the technological competition in this area among various countries is quite intense.Large investment in human capital and high technical complexity both contribute to the creation of high quality innovations in a significant way, and company is the primary emerging technology driver in strategic emerging industries.
