AN APPROACH FOR SELECTION OF RISK MITIGATION STRATEGY IN INFORMATION SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT

　　Controlling risk in information system development projects is considered to be a major contributor to project success.This paper provides a technique to select risk mitigation strategy to ensure the success of an information system development project.WBS and RBS are used to describe the distribution of the project risks and risk mitigation strategies.Tasks of development, impacts and probabilities of risks and risk responses are taken into account.The method determines the risk reduction plan with an optimized function considering development cost.A simple example shows the benefits of the method.
