MODELLING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN VOLUME OF EMERGENCY CALLS AND AIR QUALITY INDEX: WITH FUNCTIONAL DATA ANALYSIS
A partially functional linear semi-parametric regression model is proposed to model the relationship between emergency calling volume and some air quality indices (AQI).There are three different types of predictors: functional, scalar and categorical ones in our model and it is a regression model with mixed types of predictors.Functional principal component (FPC) basis functions and Bspline basis are utilized to approximate the unknown slope and link functions, respectively.And the derivatives of functional curves are selected into the final model, which makes the model perform well.Also some simulation results are shown to give empirical values of number of FPCs.
