This paper presents an experiment that examines effects of emotional reactions on nonprofessional investors valuation judgments when the presentation formats of comprehensive income are different. The experiment indicates that nonprofessional investors can distinguish the effects of other comprehensive income on corporate performance and share price. The format of statement of comprehensive income is considered preferable in comparison to the modified profit statement as the statement of comprehensive income could improve the decision making process.Furthermore, it shows that the process of reporting format acting on judgments is accompanied with cognitive and affective effects. The information disclosed in the format of statement of comprehensive income is easier to understand, and it in turn brings positive emotional reactions. Our results have certain reference value for the improvement of Chinese accounting standards.
