Investigation and Analysis of Yak Resources in Haixi State of Qinghai Province
Yak resources are the main source for the Tibetan people in Haixi state of Qinghai Province and there are 183 100 yaks in the state.The fecundity is still in a low level due to the traditional cultivation system and is not obviously for economy benefit.The government have paid more attention to the yak production and established a number of yak cooperatives since the construction of Qinghai grassland ecological animal husbandry in 2008.The semen of Simmental was introduced to develop the Beef Cattle Industry in 2012.In view of this, this paper investigated the current situation of yak resources and analyzed the problem of yak production in Haixi state of Qinghai Province.Finally, we put forward our views on how to develop yak production in the future.Yak, also called landscape species, is special livestock which distribute on the Tibetan Plateau areas.It is not only adapt to the low temperature, pressure and oxygen, but also crude feed tolerance, which can be popularized in Tibetan Plateau areas of China.The yak can provide materials of production and living, such as milk, meat, wool, and so on.Wild yak is an important production and living resources in Tibetan Plateau areas.It is typical alpine animals and first class national protected animal.
