SNP Detection and Its Association Analysis with Production Traits of Yak MC4R Gene
The polymorphisms of MC4R gene and their correlation to production traits were investigated for three yak breeds.HRM (High resolution melting curve analysis techniques) and direct sequencing were applied to analyze the polymorphisms of the locus in MC4R gene exon region in 491 individuals of the three yak breeds, namely Da Tong yak, Tian zhu yak and Pa li yak.One novel SNP, 437(G/A), was detected.Allele frequencies of these SNPs were investigated and evaluated by the x2 test in 491 samples.SPSS17.0 software was used for association analysis.One SNP was discovered in the exon region.Analyzing the association of polymorphism with production trait at all mutation locus showed significant effects on Body length, Weight and Herrt girth (P < 0.05) while no effects on Body height and Tube girth (P > 0.05).The results suggest that the SNP might have potential effects on production traits in the above mentioned yak populations and could be used for marker-assisted selection.
