Identification of SSR markers linked with low hydrocyanic acid content in sorghum-sudangrass hybrid
Sorghum-sudangrass hybrid containing high hydrocyanic acid content can cause hydrocyanic acid poisoning to the livestock.Molecular markers associated with low hydrocyanic acid content can speed up the process of identification of corresponding genotypes.In the present study, three SSR markers Xtxp7375, Xtxp7230 and Bnlg667960 associated with low hydrocyanic acid content were identified by BSA and single marker analysis, explaining the phenotypic variation of 41.2 %, 24.7% and 20.4%, respectively.It is the first report on the development of molecular markers associated with low hydrocyanic acid content in sorghum-sudangrass hybrid.These markers will be useful for marker-assisted breeding of sorghum-sudangrass hybrid.
