The Strain-based Failure Assessment Diagram for Commercially Pure Titanium TA2

  Strain-based fracture assessment method has been focused in recent years.There have been a series of researches about strain-based fracture assessment approach which have been made and some strain-based failure assessment curves have been proposed.In this paper the stress-based and strain-based failure assessment diagram (SB-FAD) approaches and 3 options methods corresponding to that of stress-based failure assessment method were briefly reviewed firstly.On the basis of it, some validations of SB-FAD approach for commercially pure titanium TA2 with high strain-hardening coefficient were described and several failure assessment curves based on strain-based method about four typical specimens CCP, DECP, SECP and CT were established.It has been found that geometries and crack sizes have effects on the failure assessment curves.Compared with the basic stress-based failure assessment curves, the strain-based failure assessment curves can lead to more conservatism in the stage of excess of yield.The SB-FAC modified by Anisworth will be appropriate for the object in this paper.
