Failure Analysis and Redesign on Jacketed Aggregated Kettle of Propylene

　　Jacketed aggregated kettle is the key equipment of polypropylene reaction setting.The main failure of the equipment is cracks and leakage in the kettle wall near the lower thermometer pipe branch, which is a widespread phenomenon in this refinery.The failure pattern is low cycle fatigue cracking which results from cycle vibration and high stress concentration.Incorrect design of the jacket structure which resulted in edge stress is responsible for the low cycle fatigue.An improved measurement which is available and simple was introduced.
