Effect of Nano-ZnO Particles on the Anticorrosion Performance of Hybrid Polyurea Coatings on Steel at High Temperature and Pressure

The hybrid polyurea coating system containing nano-ZnO particles were prepared and investigated for corrosion protection of steel P110 in 3.5wt% NaCl solution using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).The results show that nano-ZnO particles in polyurea coatings are effective to improve anticorrosion properties of the steel, but addition of nanoparticles has threshold concentration. The polyurea coating containing 10wt%ZnO has the best corrosion resistance among three kinds of coatings by analyzing the EIS data with 9d exposure time. The results obtained from EIS and SEM are in reasonably good agreement.
