Design of miniature tri-band monopole antenna for WLAN and WiMAX applications

  An asymmetric microstrip-fed tri-band monopole antenna with a C-shapedgroundstub loaded is investigated.Two strips and a crooked stubconnected to the ground through a via-hole are use to obtain the frequency ranges of 2.4–2.52GHz,3.4– 3.65 GHz,and 5.16–6.2GHz,which is met the specificationsof WLAN 2.4/5.2/5.8GHz and WiMAX 3.5/5.5GHz.Besides,the proposed antenna not only exhibits almost an omnidirectional radiation pattern inthe H-plane and a figure-of-eight radiation pattern in the E-plane,but also provides stable gains.Furthermore,thesize of the proposed antenna is only 20 × 14 × 1 mm3.
