Structure, physical and chemical properties of DRALON fiber
A new fine-denier profiled acrylic fiber DRALON is studied.The surface morphology, chemical composition, supra-molecular structure, thermal stability and moisture regain, thermal retaining property of the fibers are investigated.The effects of sodium hydroxide, concentrated sulfuric acid, organic solvent and hydrogen peroxide, sodium hydrosulfite on the whiteness,mechanical properties of fibers are discussed.The results show that the DRALON fiber has a dumb-bell-shaped cross-section and its smooth longitudinal fiber structure has no grooves on the surface.It has maintained excellent properties of ordinary acrylic fiber,such as stable thermal performance.Meanwhile it is resistant to acid, alkali, and ordinary organic solvents, and resistant to some reducing agents and oxidants.The moisture regain and insulation performance of DRALON fiber are superior to the ordinary acrylic fiber.It has characteristic functional groups of ordinary acrylic fiber, so it can be dyed by cationic dyes.
