Effects of visual spatial frequency on audiovisual integration in a visual selective attention task
Many previous studies have shown that visual and auditory combining signal could affect sensory performance by modalities.The audiovisual integration strongly depends on stimulus features.Visual spatial frequency and contrast are basic features of visual signal.Whether visual spatial frequency could effects audiovisual integration remain unclear.Some studies shown that there is boundary regular in visual research experiment,but if it also have this effect on audiovisual integration experiment is not known.Here,we used 100%contrast to do experiment.In first experiment,there were eight conditions of spatial frequency: 0.154,0.29,0.54,1,1.86,3.47,6.46,12cycle/degree.In the second experiment,there were seven conditions: 0.29,0.54,1,1.86,3.47,6.46,12cycle/degree,participants task was responds to target stimuli(unimodal visual stimulus V and bimodal audiovisual stimulus AV)by pressed response key.The response times(RT),hit rates,false alarm rates,sensitivity measures(d)and criterion(c)of each task were measured,and all these data were analyzed using ANVOA to observe the audiovisual integration effect.Our results show that all experiments had main effects.Moreover,all spatial frequencies can facilitate the effect of audiovisual integration,it was not same as the visual research.As a result,the spatial frequency influence audio-visual integration,and this effects are changed with changing the spatial frequency.
