A Preliminary Study about the Distribution of Temperature Due to Electrical Stimulation in ECT
Electroconvulsive therapy(ECT)is a non-invasive technique applied to treat neurological diseases,in which electric current is applied on the scalp. In this study, the most common electrode configurations: right unilateral, bilateral frontotemporal, and bifrontal ECT are applied to a spherical head model to analyze the rise in temperature due to the electrical stimulation. The preliminary results show an increase in temperature on the scalp, and no affecting on the brain. This model will be improved further to achieve a more realistic case for individual patient.
