INFLUENCE OF PRE-SOAKED LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATE ON THE SHRINKAGE OF SELF-COMPACTING CONCRETE
Influence of substituting volume fraction of two different pre-soaked lightweight aggregates (LWA A and LWA B) on the fresh properties, compressive strength, early-age autogenous shrinkage, and drying shrinkage of self-compacting concrete (SCC) was investigated. The results indicate that the autogenous shrinkage of mortars in SCC within 3 days significantly decreased with the increasing of internal curing (IC) water. When the internal water in SCC was identical, the LWA A improves the autogenous shrinkage more significantly than LWA B during the first 3 days.Autogenous swelling of mortars in SCC was noticed during the first day, which was mainly caused by reabsorption of bleeding water. The compressive strength of SCC decreased with the increase of substituting volume fraction of pre-soaked LWAs.No significant influence of LWAs on drying shrinkage of SCC was found in this study.
