SELF-COMPACTING CONCRETE OR ARCHITECTURAL ONE?
Architectural concrete is increasingly being used not only to building the individual walls, but the whole objects.Knowledge and awareness of its characteristics constantly increases.They are more and more complicated structures, structurally, where architectural concrete need to play a leading role in the visual perception of these objects.Along with this, there are more and more problems with the concreting of the mix, with vibrating.This leads to many complementing mistakes, imperfections in the final surface.The problems mentioned above encourage contractors to reach for self-compacting concrete, which facilitate concreting the mix and protect the contractor against blow holes, air bubbles or discoloration.Unfortunately, it often turns out that the obtained effect is worse than received with standard compacted mixture.Therefore, many questions arise: whether each self-compacting concrete is architectural one? Can be the SCC used in all conditions?, What should be done to perform properly the architectural elements with self-compacting concrete? The paper is an attempt to present some aspects of the use of SCC as an architectural concrete.Additionally, it contains presentations of experiences with the implementation structure of that material and the related shortcomings.
