Analysis on Deformation Mechanism and Dynamic Stability of Baihetan Hydropower Station

The dam site area of Baihetan hydropower station is located in deep gorge area of the deep-incised valley. The left bank slope is high steep, and the geological hazards of collapse and spalling frequently occur. As its stability has posed a threat to project parts of dam abutment resisting force body and the intakes, it is especially important to evaluate its stability and hazard.On-scene investigation shows that the rock mass has experienced complex magmatism and multistage tectonism, the left bank mainly has 3 kinds of deformation and failure mode, that are normal unloading mode, mud-filled fracture mode and epigenetic reformation mode of gentle inclined and staggered zones;Detailed studies have conducted on slope rock mass, syntagmatic relation of structural plane, rock mass weathering and physical and mechanical properties; On the basis, it uses discrete element numerical to reveal the slopes occurrence regularity of deformation and fracture and deformation development mode under the natural state and seismic dynamic, the results showed that: under the natural state, sliding-tension has happened within locally small range on the left slope, the whole is in stable state;and under the earthquake, the left slope will finally evolves into high-speed landslide after a period of time, which will have a great influence on the safe of dam and driving safety on the left bank of by-river highway.
