DECORATIVE COATINGS BASED ON ALKALI ACTIVATED CEMENTS
The paper covers the results of design of compositions and technology of production of dry mixes from alkali activated slag cements for decorative coatings like plasters and gives proofs oftbeir multifunctional use when applied to a number of various surfaces.The results of extensive testing program show that the developed coatings combine properties of mineral systems-high breathability and water vapour permeability and resistance to ultraviolet radiation and those characteristic of acrylic-based coatings-high mechanical strength,resistance to exposure of various environmental factors,being not expensive and ecologically friendly during production,application and use.Long-term behavior of the developed coatings expressed by changes of physico-mechanical properties such as compressive strength,adhesion and crack resistance during service under exposure of various environmental factors was studied and a conclusion was drawn that,compared to the known-in-the-art finishing materials,the developed coatings have the longer durability.
