MINIMUM FLUIDIZATION VELOCITY OF MTO CATALYST PARTICLES

Methanol to olefins (MTO) is a new process in which fluidized bed have been used as reactors and regenerators. In this study, experiments were carried out in 2D and 3D cold fluidized bed reactors to determine the minimum fluidization velocities (Umf) with air as fluidizing medium. The effects of particle size on Umf have been explored. The results show that the Umf of particles increases with the increase of particle size.On the basis of experimental data, a modification has been made to the correlation by Abrahamsen and Geldart to predict the Umf for MTO catalyst particles.
