REVIEW OF ENTRAINMENT CORRELATIONS
A review of existing entrainment correlations developed for gas-solid fluidized bed systems have been carried out, with the goal of enhancing the understanding of the entrainment and elutriation phenomena.An in-depth inspection of over 20 correlations, the effort of which is complementary to a more comprehensive review endeavor, reveals vast discrepancies in the entrainment values predicted.Noteworthy observations include: (i) Discrepancies of up to 8 orders of magnitude in the entrainment values predicted by existing correlations, and (ii) Anomalous inflations in the elutriation of larger particles are predicted by some correlations.These observations highlight the need for more physically-based models.
