START-UP OF AN ADVANCED FCC PILOT PLANT WITH INTERNALLY CIRCULATING FLUIDIZED BED
In this publication a newly constructed FCC pilot plant with an internally circulating fluidized bed is presented. The design of an existing FCC pilot plant was improved and new features were added to enhance the flexibility and controllability of the device.Experiments which validate the operability of the new pilot plant were carried out successfully.Leakage between regenerator and riser reactor was determined and satisfactory results were obtained.Due to the high importance of the C/O-ratio the impact of different factors on the circulation rate was evaluated.A variation of the cross sectional area by a cone has proven to be effective.Experiments with hydro treated VGO were carried out to investigate the influence of the C/O-ratio on product lumps. An increase of the C/O-ratio led to a higher conversion. The gas and the coke lumps both increased significantly;however, the gasoline and LCO+residue lumps decreased.
