CFD MODELING OF THE GAS-PARTICLE FLOW IN A DUAL FLUIDIZD BED: EFFECT OF MODEL PARAMETERS

A three-dimensional CFD model of a dual fluidized bed is developed based on the Eulerian-Eulerian approach with the kinetic theory of granular flow. The effects of drag model and restitution coefficient on the computational results are compared qualitatively and quantitatively. The results show that the drag model has a significant influence on gas-particle flow. All drag models yield the results that are fairly in good agreement with the experimental data in the bubbling bed. However, there are differences between the simulation and measurement in the riser, and the Gidaspow and Syamlal & OBrien drag models match better with the experimental data. The restitution coefficient has little effect on the hydrodynamics in either the riser or bubbling bed due to the difference of energy dissipation.
