NUMERICAL MODELING OF THE LARGE SCALE CIRCULATING FLUIDIZED BED BOILER
A constantly developing fluidized combustion technology has become competitive with a conventional Pulverized Coal (PC) combustion.Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boilers can be seen as a good alternative to the PC boilers due to their robustness and lower sensitivity to the fuel quality. However, development of appropriate engineering tools which can be used for modeling and optimization of the CFB boiler constructions and operating parameters has been still sought after. The paper presents the application of a hybrid Euler-Lagrange and Euler-Euler approaches for modeling of the dense gas-solid flow in a large scale industrial CFB boiler. Moreover, in presented paper the reader can find application of mentioned numerical models for modeling particle transport for different boiler simplifications.Evaluated numerical results were compared against measured data for all investigated cases.Carried out results, have shown comparable tendencies with measured data.
