REVISITED FLOW REGIME IN CIRCULATING FLUIDIZED BED REACTOR WITH HIGH SOLID DENSITY
Nowadays, multiphase flow plays an important role in various chemical industries. The solid particles can be used as a chemical reaction catalyst, heating medium or fuel.Circulating fluidized bed is one of the commonly used chemical reactors for this multiphase flow system due to its many advantages comparing to fixed bed operation.Recently, the high solid density circulating fluidized bed reactor is gaining more attention. The reason is that new applications need uniform gas-solid particle contacting area and high concentration such as purification and agricultural product drying units. In this study, hydrodynamics differences among the flow regimes inside circulating fluidized bed reactor with high solid density were discussed based on three statistical parameters which were average of solid volume fraction and standard deviations of radial and axial solid volume fractions. The average of solid volume fraction had maximum value in the circulating-turbulent fluidization regime. The standard deviations of radial and axial solid volume fractions had minimum and maximum values in the bubbling fluidization regime, respectively. As the increasing of gas inlet velocity, the standard deviation of solid volume fraction tended to approach an invariable value. In addition, the general flow regime diagram inside high solid particle density circulating fluidized bed reactor with only primary gas injection were summarized.
