CARBONATION OF K2CO3 SOLID SORBENT IN A BUBBLING FLUIDIZED BED BY CFD-DEM SIMULATION, PLUG FLOW MODELING, AND TWO-PHASE MODELING
Three models (CFD-DEM model, plug flow model, and bubbling two-phase model) are coupled with carbonation reaction for modeling CO2 capture behaviors of K2CO3 solid sorbent in a bubbling fluidized bed reactor.It indicates the bubbling two-phase model lies somewhere between the accuracy and computation loads for practical application.However, the determination of semi-empirical parameters of in the bubbling two-phase model is still the major difficulty, where the parameters of bubble size, mass transfer coefficient and inter-phase reaction rate have great influence on the mode accuracy.Therefore, two-phase modeling combined with parameters deduced from CFD-DEM simulations, can provide a solution for practical application.
