MODELING OF FOULING IN CFB BOILERS

This paper describes FoulEst-in-house model that estimates fouling rate in convective back-pass of CFB boilers.FoulEst model incorporates in-house experience on fouling from several commercial CFB boilers firing coal, biomass, peat and waste as well as from contemporary literature.From those, this paper focuses on two CFB boilers co-firing agricultural residues with coal or wood, respectively.In particular, the paper discusses the model capabilities to predict the fly ash generation, deposit composition, and fouling rate for these two cases.Furthermore, the paper shows experimental validation results produced in well controlled laboratory conditions of a deposit simulator test rig.
