HEAT TRANSFER PHENOMENA IN BUBBLING FLUIDIZED BEDS FOR CONCENTRATED SOLAR POWER

Dense gas fluidized beds have the potential to be applied as energy collection and storage for concentrated solar power generation.Physical and mathematical models based on dynamic temperature measurements inside a dense fluidized bed have been developed to estimate the overall heat transfer coefficient (h) and the transversal thermal diffusivity (α) in beds of materials suitable for concentrating solar power applications.h and α increase to values of about 300-500W/(m2K) and of 4·10-3 m2/s, respectively, when U-Umf is increased to about 0.07m/s for the bed materials investigated.
