CO2-ENHANCED COAL GASIFICATION IN A CIRCULATING FLUIDIZED BED REACTOR

  Preliminary coal gasification experiments were performed under an oxidative atmosphere enriched with CO2 in a circulating fluid bed (CFB) reactor operating under the transport regime.For the tests, two coal samples with different ranks (lignite-Belchatow and subbituminous-Wieczorek) were employed, and the implications of different process temperatures were obtained.However, for both samples, the addition of CO2 resulted in a two-fold higher content CO content, a reduced H2 content in the product gas and an increased processed gas yield in comparison to classical air gasification.These results justify the process concept.
