INFLUENCE OF FUEL FEEDING POSITION ON SORPTION ENHANCED REFORMING IN A DUAL FLUID GASIFIER
Gasification of wood pellets was carried out in a dual fluid gasifier by the use of pure steam as gasification agent. The main focus of the experiments was to determine the influence of different fuel feeding positions on the main characteristics of the gasification process. Two operation modes were investigated. On the one hand wood pellets were conveyed directly into the bubbling bed of the gasifier system (in-bed feeding) and on the other hand wood pellets were thrown on the top of the bubbling bed (on-bed feeding). Both operation modes were performed with sorption enhanced reforming process operating limestone as bed material. As a result, in-bed feeding led to higher hydrogen content.Furthermore, during the experiments in-bed feeding enabled higher carbon dioxide loads on the operated limestone particles. The achieved results are compared with results using fresh and used (coated) olivine with different particle sizes as bed material.Thereby lower tar contents had been observed for in-bed feeding.
