THE EFFECTS OF PRESSURIZED OXY COMBUSTION OF SOLID FUELS

Oxy-fuel technology is a progressive technology for effectively capturing CO2 and lowering emissions of other gaseous compounds, especially NOx.Experiments were carried out using a laboratory-scale, fluidized-bed (bubbling regime) combustor. The aim of this work was to show the effects of operational pressure on selected process parameters.CO and NOx emissions as well as the power density of the combustion chamber were taken into account.Practically, pressurized oxy-fuel combustion is important because the process allows for increased power density.Increased pressures resulted in more stable combustion at lower oxygen concentrations.Stable combustion was obtained at a lower oxygen inlet concentration (14.8 v%) and a higher gauge pressure (5 bar).
