VERTICAL SUSPENSION DENSITY DISTRIBUTION UNDER AIR/CARBON DIOXIDE CONDITIONS IN A CIRCULATING FLUIDIZED BED

The distribution of the solids concentration within the riser is one of the most important parameter influenced the proper performance of a whole power plant. The aim of the paper is determination of the difference between suspension density along the riser under air and carbon dioxide conditions as the fluidization gases.Tests were conducted on two cold models.Particle size distributions of glass beads were prepared on the base of two scaling methods of the scaled down material taken from the furnace of Lagisza 460 MWe CFB boiler. For the second cold model stand (scale 1∶20 of Lagisza boiler) investigations were carried out only for air condition. On the base of the results it appears that for the proper installation performance (pressure distribution along a chamber height) the influence has not only PSD of fed material but also its amount (differences in bottom bed zone between model A and B).For the same velocity of the gas-air or carbon dioxide, values of suspension densities are mainly higher for air blown condiitions.
