THE INFLUENCE OF TEMPERATURE ON THE ENTROPY GENERATION OF CYCLONE SEPARATOR
The Reynolds Stress Model (RSM) was used to simulate the flow field in cyclone with adiabatic wall at temperature ranging from 297 K to 1123 K.The volumetric entropy generation rate due to viscosity of fluid, turbulent dissipation and heat transfer is calculated and afterwards integrated over the whole flow domain by the computational data.A new model to determine the entropy generation due to the friction near the wall is proposed. It shows that the turbulent dissipation and the friction near the wall are the main factors for energy loss in cyclone with a percentage of entropy generation caused by them over 50% and 48%, respectively. It is found that the decrease of gas density, resulting from the rise of temperature, contributes mostly to the decrease of energy loss. The distribution of entropy generation rate due to the turbulent dissipation indicates that the regions in the vicinity of finder vortex and dust exit are the major domains in energy consumption. Moreover, the energy loss decreases as the gas temperature rises.
