Nesting LES within WRF for Distributed Wind Energy Applications

  Since the distributed wind power closer to the user or load centers,leading to more complex elements of the surrounding environment,however,the system stability,reliability,power quality has put forward higher requirements.The changes of obstacles,surface roughness and topography have increased the difficulty of numerical weather prediction that used for distributed wind power forecast,which has seriously hampered the development of distributed wind power.This paper nested large eddy simulation(LES)technology within the weather research and forecast(WRF)model,formed a high-resolution model system that simultaneously consider meso-scale and small-scale atmospheric motion,carried out the simulation study in northeast China,and corrected the simulation model through the observation data.The results shows that the nesting LES within WRF model system can effectively improve wind prediction accuracy,it provide a more accurate and reliable support for distributed wind power forecast,and the model system has application potential.
