Leakage simulation and risk analysis for a domestic air conditioning charged with propane
Refrigerants play the important roles in the refrigeration and heat pump systems as the aspects of energy efficiency and environmental acceptance. While Most of the next generation refrigerants with zero ozone depletion potential(ODP)and lower global warming potential(GWP)features possess the disadvantage of flammability. In this paper, the current conditions and existing problems of a typical flammable refrigerant: propane(R290)were discussed. In addition, the concentration fields of R290 refrigerant in a normal room were researched on the condition of supposing R290 leakage from a wall-mounted type air conditioning.By the computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulation method, the following three influence factors were investigated, those are the air velocity in outlet, the amount of refrigerant charge, and the statuses of running or stopping,at the same time, the danger area and level were analysed. Finally, some safety suggestions for the usage of flammable refrigerants were proposed.
