A Study on Influence Factor of Neutral Plane Position for High-rise Atrium Buildings
The present paper aims to investigate influence factor of neutral plane position for high-rise atrium buildings due to buoyancy driven ventilation.A ten-storey building was chosen with different outdoor air temperature: 12℃,18℃,24℃,and different atrium size : 3m×3m,4m×4m,5m×5m,using CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics)method. The air velocity, flow direction in atrium and temperature distribute for each floor were studied in order to determine the position of neutral plane for high-rise atrium buildings. The study indicated that the neutral plane was always located at the top of the building, and the thermal comfort for the lower floors was better than the upper ones. With the increase of outdoor air temperature, the change of neutral plane position would be not obvious. The study also indicated that the neutral plane position would be located at lower position,if atrium size was increased, and thermal comfort is improved for the whole building. All of these conclusions provide theory foundation for the design of natural ventilation in high-rise residential atrium buildings.
