Energy Efficiency and Alternative Sources in MSMEs Tourism Sector
This is a project developed by UNAM(Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México)in collaboration with different Universities of the country.The aim of this is to assess the energy savings potential and the convenience of the alternative energy sources application in MSMEs(Micro,Small and Medium Enterprises)of Mexican tourism Sector.With the gathered information is intended to get energy performance indicators,based on the climatological region where the building is located,taking into account the services that it offers and the building classification.The idea is to determine strategies for getting lower energy consumption levels; this will be possible by systematizing the study of energy use and inviting hotel keepers to perform some actions in order to improve comprehensively the relationship between the energy consumption,the products,and the final services.To achieve those goals,different measures will be needed: technologic,managerial,savings,architectural improvements and cultural habits changing.With this project the hotel keepers will have a computational tool that will allow modeling their building in architectonic,mechanical and electrical way.With this information we pretend to generate some calculation and determine the saving potential areas.This project will also provide a database of efficient equipments suppliers; it also will provide a brief benefit-cost analysis and an a payback study.The users benefit with this project are not just the economic savings they can get,but the contribution in reducing the current energy crisis and the improvement of the environment,also by this project,hotels will get promotion by improving the services they give.With all this activities,we expect that the hotel industry decrease their consumption energy in the country,to have some tools in way to control and measures the correct indexes and also promote energy consumption education; specifically in energy efficiency and the use of alternative energy sources.
