Thermodynamic and Optical Analysis for a Concentrating PV/T Solar System with Spectral Beam Splitting Technology
Spectral splitting technology that separates solar spectrum into several parts and enables photovoltaic conversion and photo-thermal conversion simultaneously aims to utilize solar energy with an increased efficiency.A concentrating PV/T(CPV/T)solar system employing beam splitting technology that is structurally symmetrical and with uniform solar flux on the PV converter is proposed,in which both the PV device and thermal utilization cycle are operating at its optimal conditions.Structural parameters of the system components are optimized for the prototype design.Flux density distribution on the PV device surface has been simulated using Soltrace program by taking into account several optical errors and shows good uniformity for the photovoltaic conversion.Thermodynamic performance of the CPV/T system has also been investigated which suggests a 15.74%more work production than that of a pure PV module with an area equal to area of the concentrator applied in the hybrid system under same conditions.
