Spectrum Analysis of Optical Performance of Solar Dish Concentrators
To analyze the optical performance of solar thermal system more precisely, this study presents a method to calculate the optical performance of the solar dish concentrator through considering the solar radiation spectrum variance at different moment. We used the SMARTS2(Simple Model of the Atmospheric Radiative Transfer of Sunshine)code to calculate the instant spectrum of solar irradiance.Coupled with the experimental data about spectral reflectance of three alternative solar mirrors and transmittance of two optical windows, the optical efficiency can be calculated out for any moment. The results show that the practical optical efficiency of the solar dish concentrators is not a constant, but changes with solar elevation, and the maximal change is near 5%.However,the results based on the standard solar spectral data ASTM G173-03(Standard tables for reference solar spectral irradiance)is closed to the annual average of the solar weighted efficiency.Applying the three solar mirrors and the two optical windows in a baseline of solar dish collector, the annual optical energy transferred has a maximum deviation of 0.4%between the constant model and the spectrum related model.
