Sustainability analysis of coal gasification processes with/without carbon capture

Current designs and assessments of coal processing industries were focusing more on their technical economic performance but less on the sustainability analysis.Existing sustainability analysis systems are lack of effective evaluation methods for the complexity of coal chemical processes. This paper establishes a sustainability analysis framework for chemical industries integrative assessment of resource efficiency, energy efficiency, environmental impact, and economic performance respectively.10 indicators are selected in this framework to reflect the sustainability. Two coal gasification processes is used as the case study to verify the feasibility of the framework. The first one is a Texaco gasification process and the second one is the same gasification process with carbon capture. These two processes are simulated and the instance of the second process is built with 90%and gg%concentration for recovered C02.With the simulation of the two processes,it is easy to find that the second process with gg%C02 concentration is much better than the second one with 90%C02 concentration and the first process. However, the sustainability of second one with 90%C02 concentration and the first process is not quite different.
